Church members commit to joining a spiritual family that provides encouragement and support. Members are called to a higher degree of responsibility, service, and sacrifice. The pastors and ministry leaders of First Baptist Damascus pledge to assist members with care, counsel, prayer, and teaching.
Why Become A Member?
It’s BiblicalChrist is committed to the church. “…Christ loved the church, and gave himself up for her.” (Ephesians 5:25 ESV) |
It’s healthyIt produces spiritual growth. The Bible gives major emphasis for the need of Christians to be accountable to each other for spiritual growth. You cannot be accountable when you’re not committed to a specific church family. |
It’s practicalIt defines those upon whom the church can depend. Every team must have a roster. Every school must have an enrollment. Every business has a payroll. Every army has an enlistment. Even the United States takes a census and requires voter registration. Membership identifies the committed church family. |
It’s Counter- CulturalIt is an antidote to society. Today is an age when people resist being committed to anything – a job, a marriage, the country they live in. Partnering through membership swims against the current of America’s “consumer religion.” It is an unselfish decision. |
